Dixon was the sister of noted opthalmologist James Dixon (1814-1896), who on 2 Oct 1851 became the husband of Mary Louisa Simpkinson, daughter of Sir John Augustus Francis (Frank) Simpkinson and his wife Mary (nee Griffin). Anna was a regular correspondent with Eleanor Isabella Franklin, later Gell, who was the step-daughter of Lady Franklin, the aunt of Anna's sister-in-law, Mary Louisa Simpkinson. |
