(In pencil) Letter from Mr Sellwood
Grasby 22 May
1855
My dear Niece. I sent the part of your last letter which you pointed out to Lady Franklin and enclosed you have her answer. I do hope your next will close the matter as I have frequently regretted that any departure from the strict Letter of the Will was ever thought of. You should recollect that if Lady F had retained everything for her life you would probably have had broken sets of China, tarnished plated goods and threadbare or rather ragged Linen – I have not the slightest recollection of seeing your Father’s portrait in Devonshire Street. In fact I was never there but once and that must be nearly thirty years ago.
I beg to be kindly remembered to Mr Gell and to your Aunt Booth when you see her.
Yrs affe.ly
Hen. Sellwood
