Description
The records consist of correspondence written to members of the Booth family which came into the possession of Eleanor Isabella Franklin, daughter of John Franklin and his first wife, Eleanor Anne (nee Porden). They passed to her descendants before being deposited in the Derbyshire Record Office.

Administrative History
The Booths were a Lincolnshire family based in the East Lindsey district in the early 19th century. In 1805 John Booth of Ingoldmells married Hannah Franklin (1778-1859), an elder sister of John Franklin (from 1829 Sir John Franklin). They had two children, Thomas Willingham Booth (1806-1869) and Mary Booth (1807-1845), who became the second wife of John Richardson.
