| Administrative History | The provenance of these letter is unknown. The donor's late mother discovered them in a secret drawer in a wooden bureau she had purchased.
William Boden (c 1830-1888), was born in Ashover (St Katherines), Derbyshire and would become a coal and stone merchant living at Derwent House, Rowsley. He married his first wife Mary Ann Reeds (c1830-1874) and they would have eight children: Sarah Ann (born c. 1855), Mary H (born c. 1857), Emma Jane (born c. 1862), Matilda E (born c. 1864), John James (born c. 1866), George E (born c. 1868), Lewis William (born c. 1869) and Charles Henry (born c. 1870). His wife Mary Ann died in 1874.
At an unknown date William married Edith, maiden name unknown, who was born c. 1855 in Canterbury, Kent. They would have seven children: Bertha Marguerite (born c. 1877), Bernard D Eate (born c.1880), Christine Mabel (born c.1881), William Percy (born c.1882), Kathleen Violet (born c.1883), Hilda Gertrude (born c.1884) and Ida Gladys (born c.1887).
