This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A rough plan of the Manor and Parish of Shirland in the County of Derby. Surveyed in 1762 by James Crow and Thos. March. Surveyor: James Crew and Thomas March. Scale: of 20 poles in One Inch [1:4000]. Size: 130 x 110 cm. Materials: coloured ink on linen backed paper. Centred on: SK399585 Notes: top of sheet: NNW. Includes Shirland and Higham villages with houses alomg street: 'Ane Moor' and Stonebroom Common unenclosed: names closes with tenant, area and reference numbers: buildings in block diagram with crofts: south elevation of Shirland church: roads with surveyed width: watercourses, ponds: includes 'N.B. The rough Field Book belonging to this Plan and which is delivered with it into the hands of Sr Anthony Thomas Aldy [?] will explain every part…': book now lost.
