Description | Feoffment by John Stanley, to Sir Thomas Greisley, Zacharie Johnson of Netherseal, clerk Reignald Eyre of Netherseal, gentleman, Richard Johnson of Netherseal, gentleman, John Toone of Boythorpe, gentleman, Thomas Farnell of Overseal, yeoman, William Collins of Overseal, yeoman, and William Newbould of Netherseal, yeoman (trustees under the will of Sir Thomas Rich , who bequeathed £200 for the purchase of lands of a yearly value of £10, for buying 4s worth of bread each week to be given to the poor), in consideration of £200, of the house at Overseal wherein Stanley now dwells, with several parcels of land known as Harry Hedges, near the town (5a), a great land in Chesterfield upon Church Flat with an adjoining butt, 5 selions in Woodfeilde upon Broom Lands, 1 land and 1 rood in the same at Orchard End, 4 beastgates in Broomy Land Heath, the Hayes and the other stinted fields at Overseal, with all appurtenances, in trust to uses as above 27 Apr 1668 Attached to the above is: Declaration by Sir Thomas Greisley and the other trustees, in pursuance of the trusts reposed in them that; (a) the relevant clause of Sir Thomas Rich's will is to be engrossed and framed and hung in the parish church (b) the land purchased from John Stanley will be leased to him and his heirs at £10 12s pa (c) whenever 5 of the said trustees shall have died, the remaining 4 will elect 5 new trustees within 3 months (d) they will take it in turns annually to see to the distribution of the bread (e) the remaining 4s of the said rent will be paid yearly to the parish clerk for his pains in the distribution of the bread 27 Apr 1668 |
