Title
Book of Alan Turner's cuttings and photographs
Date
1955-1963
Description
This volume is dedicated to the topics of Christianity and industry, and includes items such as:
Copy of the Ernest Turner News, Vol VI, No 9, 1956, relating to the sixth Factory Feast, including a copy of the sermon preached at High Mass by the Very Rev Fr John Baptist Reeves, O.P., on the subject of "God's Plan for a Factory".
Article by Alan Turner in the Universe 15 Oct 1961 concerning the French industrialist Leon Harmel (1829-1915), headlined "The employer who may some day be canonised". Harmel's efforts to turn his factory into a Christian community seem to have been an influence on Alan Turner, as there are other clippings which mention Harmel and French industry.
The final photographs in the volume show the interior of St Edward's Convent, Marylebone, and are dated May 1963.
