Description
To his son John Gardom, the possession and tenant right to 2 cottages, workshop, gardens, croft and stable with enough land to keep a cow and horse (part of the farm rented from the Duke of Rutland); to his son William Gardom the possession and tenant right of the remainder of the farm at Baslow, with proviso that if William does not return from America within 12 months of his death, John is to have the whole farm; to his children John, Christopher and Ann Gardom, £99 19s each; to his son Thomas Gardom £99 19s with proviso that if Thomas is admitted tenant to the farm at Baslow in preference to John and William, Thomas is to have £69 19s and William £30; John to have all his working tools, knives etc. of his trades of cordwainer and last maker; to his children William, John, Christopher and Ann, his real estate at Brampton, in equal shares, provided that if William does not pay the £60 promissory note to James Newton and £50 bond to George Gardom of Bubnell within 12 months of his death, the devise to William is void; if William die before he returns to Britain, all pecuniary bequests to William are to be void and William's daughter Jane Gardo is to have £100 at 21 in lieu; to Thomas, John, Christopher and Ann, the residue of his estate in equal shares; his sons William and John Newton, his alte servant, to be executors; Newton to be trustee for Christopher until he is 21.
