Mrs Stokes’s Compliments to Miss Brocksop, the Lady of whom she spoke is a very superior, & accomplished woman, of good family, & independent fortune.
She is a botanist, and teaches Botany to such of her Pupils as wish to be instructed in that science. Her paintings of flowers from nature Dr Stokes pronounced to be some of the finest he ever saw, & she is mistress of perspective. She was first induced to take Pupils at the request of some of her friends whose daughters had been staying with her, & by her being left alone by the marriage of her Daughter. Her manners are very pleasing, & should Miss Brocksopp wish it, Mrs Stokes will make any enquiries she desires.
