TitleHenry Bourne, Spital to William Wragg, Stretton Hall
Date20 Nov 1765
DescriptionYou have charged me with using you ill; the first time the affair was mentioned, you thought I should let it be even guineas, i.e. £21, as a yearly rent; whatever I said at the time, I had not the least meaning either as to rent or purchase; I said that nothing could be done until Mr Burrow enabled me to make a proper tithe; when I first came to my wife's part, the rent was only £16 3s 2d but finding that old Justice Gladwin had paid a fine of £80 upon a 21 year lease, I insisted on the same,, which your father refused until I issued a writ of partition; I was then persuaded to take a rent of £19 and to excuse the £8 fine; by offering my estate to you at £24 per annum I make you a present of £2 per annum (see also D8042/610)
