Will of James Shemeld of Paddock Farm, Sheffield: to his housekeeper, Mary Marples an annuity of £30; to his brothers-in-law, Edward Oakes of Sheffield, merchant, and John Jubb of Ballifield (Yorkshire) gentleman, and his friend Richard Hoystrop of Sheffield, liquor merchant, all his estates at Sheffield and Gleadless Common, the farm rented of the Duke of Norfolk and all his farming stock, ready money, investments etc. upon trust, viz. 1/3 to his sister Ann, wife of Edward Oakes, 1/3 to his sister Hannah, wife of John Jubb and 1/3 to his sister Mary, wife of Caesar Jones for her own use for life with remainder to Ann and Hannah; to Edward Oakes, John Jubb and Richard Hoystrop, £50 each; to Mary Marples, £15.
