Description
Reciting lease by John Halton on behalf of the Duke, and of Gartrude, Dowager Marchioness of Halifax, to William Ragge and Humfrey Oldfield of Horth Wingfield and Thomas Clay of Shirland (1702) of two third parts of a mine called Claycrosse Delfe, upon the common adjoining Clay Cross, so long as the same may be profitable, with proviso that if the lessors are not satisfied, the term is to be 21 years from the perfecting of the sough, Ragge and others to complete the sough formerly begun and to pay £10 per annum; in consideration of £40 paid by Mottershaw, of all his interest in the coal mine and his share of the rent.
