Title
Agreement between Gilbert Booker of Four Lane Ends, Newbold, James Swindell of Cutthorpe, Richard Holmes of Cutthorpe and John Silcock of Newbold, coalminers, and John Barnes of Ashgate, yeoman; whereas Barnes is a proprietor of a colliery at Barlow and has sunk a pit which Boker and others have agreed to work, there being two benches of coal in the Basset End still ungot; and whereas Barnes has sunk a second pit; Booker and others agree to get all the coal that can be got from the said benches and from 5 benches in the second pit (each bench to be 14 yards broad with a post 3 yards thick); to be paid 20d for every ruck of good coal containing 12 corves, weekly, and 16d per yard for every post that they shall drive through; Barnes to provide the necessary tools.
