TitleAgreement between David Barnes of Ashgate and John Wilcockson of Leadhill, and George Booker of Ashgate and James Booker of Baslow; whereas Barnes and Wilcockson are possessed of coal under lease from the Duke of Devonshire and the late Godfrey Clarke and have rented a parcel of land from Stephen Melland of Bakewell, viz. part of Cross Close from the Duke, part of Round Lower from Clarke and Cowley Meadow from Melland (total 2 acres 1 rood); Barnes and Wilcockson are to sell the same to the Bookers; there being a pit sunk in Cowley Meadow to the low coal, in which the level is driven up to the pit bottom, Barnes will drive another level parallel to the first, as far as the hedge dividing the Duke's land from Barnes' freehold which soughs are to be made with as little loss of level as possible; they are to raise the coal from the Deep and Bassett Banks from the pits in Cowley Meadow; numerous other covenants.
