TitleProbate of Martha Corbett of Shirland, widow: to her niece, Elizabeth Taylor Barnes, wife of J G Barnes her silver teapot; to her nieces Elizabeth Gratton of Higham, widow and Martha Clay, the remainder of her silver in equal shares; to Hannah Dennison, widow, all the furniture in her parlour all the articles in the pantry, her large Bible and a book called "Nelson's Festivals"; to Martha Clay her mahogany chest of drawers in the bedroom at Higham; to her brother Richard Clay, her large chair and a night chair; to Elizabeth (daughter of Elizabeth Gratton) her best bed with the hangings; to Richard also a featherbed, bolster, 2 pillows and a pair of blankets; to Elizabeth Gratton also the residue of furniture including her best dinner service, linen, china, glass and all her trinkets and wearing apparel; to J. G. Barnes and Elizabeth his wife, 19 guineas each; to Elizabeth Gratton also, £40; to each of the 2 children of her late niece, Sarah, wife of John Buckland, £5; to Hannah Dennison also, £10 and 2 suits of mourning; to Richard Clay, also a moiety of her stock and money invested on long annuities; the other moiety to her executors upon trust to pay £80 to William, illegitimate son of her late brother Francis Clay, who now lives in Birmingham and is known as William Clay, the residue to be divided equally between her nephews Francis and Rowley Clay, her nieces Martha Clay and Elizabeth, wife of James May and Margaret Clay of Manchester, widow of her nephew John Clay (children to Francis Clay); J G Barnes to be sole executor. Will dated 21 April 1837. Proved in Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
