Will of David Barnes of Ashgate gentleman: to his wife, Ellen, all his dwelling house and garden at Ashgate (tenants William Burnham Blackwell) for life with remainder to his son John Gorrel Barnes; the remainder of his freehold property to John; to Ellen an annuity of £80 for life, charged on all his freehold lands; his leasehold estate at Newbold to John with all tenant right upon the land leased from the Duke of Devonshire and Sir Sitwell Sitwell; to Ellen such of the sheets and linen necessary for her use, also £100; to his daughter Mary Webster, £600; to his daughter Ellen Clay, £600; to May Musgrave £50; to Martha Newbold £10; the residue of his personal estate to John (see D8042/159)
