Description
Place-by-place research papers on allotments, typically including copies from Ordnance Survey maps, quotations from contemporary newspaper reports, census data, extracts from the work of academic historians, tithe records, etc. Preceded by other papers relating to research into allotments, including:
"The Provision of Allotments in Derbyshire Industrial Communities", paper by Clive Leivers, published as Chapter XII of Breaking New Ground (FACHRS, 2010);
Printed table compiling information on allotments in Derbyshire, ordered by parish. The table records the name of the site, the type (G, A, CG - these terms are unexplained), the date of the information source, date of establishment, details of landlord, number of plotholders and size;
Extracts from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire evidence given before the Royal Commission on the Framework Knitters 1845 and the Royal Commission on the Employment of Children in Agriculture 1868-9
