Title | Draft agreement between Francis William Newdigate of Byrkley Lodge and Henry Bickerton Whitehouse of Dunston Hill [Staffordshire], Benjamin Whitehouse of Sedgeley [Staffordshire], Catherine Henrietta Whitehouse, Edwin Smith Whitehouse of West Hallam and Arthur George Whitehouse of West Hallam (lessees of the hard coal beneath the lands of Francis Newdigate for 42 years from 1849), whereas the coal beneath the land has been worked out, except 20 acres, which lies between two faults, for the sinking of a new shaft to work the remaining coal. The lesees are to erect a pumping engine and Newdigate to have the power to drive drifts into the new pit to drain his soft coal workings. The old hard coal pit to be handed over to Newdigate to enable him to work the soft coal. With plan |
