Shirebrook National School and successor schools
Administrative History
Shirebrook National School was opened in 1852 in premises near to the church. It became Shirebrook Board School when new premises were built at Carter Lane in 1896.
Custodial History
These records were deposited at Derbyshire Record Office by the head teacher of Brookfield Junior School in March 1971. In June 2025, records originally in this collection relating to Carter Lane School were recatalogued into D3617 and records relating to Shirebrook Model Village School were recatalogued into D3613.
Appraisal
This collection originally contained records of Shirebrook National School, Shirebrook Board School (later Carter Lane School) and Shirebrook Model Village School. The Board School and Model Village School records were removed and recatalogued into the archive collections for each of these schools in June 2025.
D785/EF11, an unused summary book, was deaccessioned in June 2025.
