DescriptionThe manor of Weston and the advowsons of Weston and Aston in Derbyshire, which Roper conveyed to Thomas Stitch gentleman and his heirs to uses appointed in the conveyance, are to be sold by Roper's executors and Stitch;
all other properties, excepting purchased lands in the county of Kent, heretofore purchased by Roper, devised to Edward Earl of Dorset and Sir Henry Compton, his father-in-law, to be sold by them. Out of the money raised, debts due to Stitch and any other debts are to be paid and the residue is to be paid to Roper's youngest daughters Elizabeth and Anne, at 18 or day of marriage, whichever happens first, if they marry with the consent of the executors of this will;
if one dies before 18 or marriage the other has her portion;
if both die before 18 or marriage, the money is to go to Roper's son Edward at 21, if he dies before then, to Roper's wife Margaret.
Reciting that Roper has power by the conveyance of his father Sir William to dispose of £5,000, he wills that any sum he has power to dispose of by his father's conveyance shall be raised out of such lands as is appointed by any conveyance to which his father was a party and the sum so raised is to be paid to his daughters, Mary, Elizabeth and Anne Roper, and if the conveyance does not appoint any particular time of payment, it will be paid them as the residue of money raised by sales (see above), the portion of anyone dying before 18 or marriage going to the survivors
Reciting also that Roper may, by his father's conveyance, dispose of £50 annual rents and annuities, of which he has granted an annuity of £20 to Alice Fletcher for life, and now devises £15 to servant Thomas Miller for life and £15 to his wife Margaret for life
To son Edward and heirs male all lands purchased by Anthony Roper near the City of Canterbury and in parish of Eltham, Kent, remainder to Roper's 3 daughters and the heirs of their bodies;
remainder to wife Margaret. Executors are Dorset and Compton, who are to educate Edward during his minority and Roper's daughters until aged 18 or their marriage;
if Edward should be in ward to the King, the executors are to sue for his wardship;
they are to receive the rents etc of the lands which are Roper's son's inheritance until he is 21 and the rents of lands to be sold, until their sale.
