TitleCovenant for the suffering of a recovery and deed to lead the uses of the recovery, made between 1. Anthony Roper esquire, Mary his wife, John Gage of Firle, Sussex, esquire and William Steedes gentleman, and 2. Richard Tufton esquire, and Richard Midlemore gentleman, for the settling of premises as in D 779B/T 174, it was covenanted that a common recovery should be suffered of the premises, by force of which Tufton and Midlemore should be seised of the premises to the use of Anthony Roper until Michaelmas next, until the end of the feast day, then to the use of Francis Wallis of London gentleman for 40 years, then to the use of Anthony for life without impeachment of waste, then to the use of Anthony, his executors and assigns for 50 years, remainder to Mary, her heirs and assigns for ever, provided that if Anthony and Mary pay Wallis £700 in one payment, then Wallis's term shall cease and that if Mary pays to Anthony's executors and assigns £800 in one payment, then the 50 year term will be void. It will be lawful for Anthony to make leases of the premises, after the expiration of Wallis's term.
