Former ReferenceD779/T/31
TitleUndated copy of an order of Hilary term 12 Charles I [1637]
Date[c1637]
DescriptionReciting a final concord (see D779/T/1/4/15-16) upon which process has been awarded against Robert Houlden to show why the lands in Spondon (normally spelt Spoundon in this document), parcel of the premises in the final concord, should not be seized into his Majesty's hand for want of a licence upon alienation as supposing the lands to be parcel of Parsons holme close and other lands belonging to the Rectory of Spondon, which are held in chief by knight service, and which Sir John Stanhope the younger had by licence upon an alienation from Sir John Stanhope the elder, and that the court has been shown by Houlden that Sir John purchased the premises in the fine from Richard Dale (see D779/T/1/4/3), so that they cannot be parcel of the lands had by licence upon alienation, and that as it appears that the premises in the final concord were never part of the lands had by licence etc. and are held not of the King but of Sir John Cooke of his manor of Melbourne by fealty and suit of court, therefore all process and seizures are absolutely discharged.
