Title
Signed certificate of Thomas Preston that the deed his master Mr Roop' [Roper] made to Gage and Steede was made in trust to them until he made his first wife a jointure out of his lands at Eltham, Kent

Description
Also that when the jointure was made the deed was delivered to Mr Roop' and before the recovery; that Mr Roop' before the feoffment to John Houlden and Preston made several entries of every part of the demesnes in Weston, Aston, Wilne and Shardlow, and of Wadd Flatt of Sawley side and that Mrs Alice Houlden and old Mr Williamott joined in a surrender made by Nicholas ?Low of Derby to Mr Roop' and wife Mary, and also widow Hill, ?Sheepy, Bonsall, widow Smith, Sheldon, Sharwin, Whittington, Pim of Shardlow (`Shordlow'), all in several assignments joined before the recovery and also Robert Houlden for Taylors Farm in Wilne and the above Mrs Houlden for farm in Shardlow, and Mrs Houlden and old Mr Robert Williamott for her farms in Wilne and the Shrubbs.
