TitleCopy of letters patent dated 17 July 26 Elizabeth I [1584] appointing John Manners esquire, John Zouche knight, Francis Rodes sergeant at law, John Harper, John Bullocke and Laurence Brodebanck (later called Broadbent) esquires, as commissioners to enquire into what lands had Thomas Lord Paget of `Bewdezeri' [Beaudesert] and Charles Paget, who have left the country in contempt of the Crown, their title and value, and to seize their lands

DescriptionWith copy of inquisition held at Stapenhill 17 August 26 Elizabeth I [1584] before the above-named commissioners (excepting Zouche) concerning manors of Weston, Ashton, Wilne, Shardlow, Morley and Smalley, park called Morley Parke, 60 messuages, 20 cottages, 20 tofts, one windmill, one horse mill, 2 dovecotes, 20 gardens, 20 orchards, 2,000 acres land, 100 acres.
Meadow, 1,000 acres pasture, 500 acres heath and furze, 500 acres common of pasture, free fishing in Trent and Derwent, free warren, view of frankpledge, £10 rents, 11b pepper, in all above places and Kiddesley, advowsons of Weston, Aston and Morley, reciting fine levied Trinity 1 Mary [1553] - see D 779B/T 228-229 - of the aforesaid premises and that William Lord Paget (of the fine) made Henry his son and heir apparent his executor, and he died 9 June 5 Elizabeth I [1563];
then Henry assumed execution of this testament and administration, and entered the premises for a term of 15 years, he died without heirs male and the 15-year term expired on 10 June 20 Elizabeth I [1578], then Charles entered the premises and at the time of his departure was seised of his demesne as of freehold for his life;
with recital of remainders;
