TitleCovenant made between 1. Edward Earl of Dorset and 2. Robert Houlden of Shardlow gentleman and Henry his son and heir apparent, reciting conveyance of 6 March 23 Charles [1648] - see D 779B/T 209 - by which the Earl of Dorset, Sir Henry Compton and Margaret Roper conveyed Weston Hall, the park and manors of Weston and Aston etc and the conveyance of 29 instant from Sir Henry Compton, Thomas Stych and Henry Stych to Robert and Henry Houlden, for £300, of the advowsons of Weston and Aston and witnessing that Robert and Henry Houlden covenanted to pay £300, with interest "for the forbearance thereof" at 6%
per annum, within one month after Edward Roper esquire son and heir of Anthony Roper (or if he dies, his and Anthony's nearest heir) reaches the age of 21 and within 40 days of reaching his full age shall have made a better assurance to the Houldens of the manors of Weston and Aston, and that the Earl of Dorset covenanted that if Edward should refuse to make assurance, then the Houldens might hold the advowsons without payment of the £300 and interest.
