TitleProbate of will dated 2 January 1659/60 of Robert Houlden of Aston gentleman concerning his goods, chattels and personal estate, having already settled his real estate to his younger children

DescriptionTo be buried in chancel of Aston Church near his son Robert's grave;
all quick goods and other personal estate without doors to be sold for payment of debts and legacies;
remainder of personal estate as household goods to remain in his house at Aston for the use of son Samuel, except £50 worth for Robert's wife to dispose of to her children;
if she marries again, sons Samuel and John are to be the executors, if any of testator's children die unmarried before the age of 21, then their estates are to be divided between the others;
£5 to poor of Aston;
£3 to son Henry's wife to buy her a gown and 40s to each of her children;
wife and children are to buy mourning at funeral, to be paid for out of the estate;
10s to each of household servants. Names wife and sons Samuel and John executors, Thomas Wandell of London brother in law, John Dalton of Derby gentleman brother in law, Richard Brokes of Derby and testator's son, Henry of Weston, as overseers. Gives 20s to each of them to buy rings.
