Henry Buxton, in consideration of marriage between Mary Houlden and John his son, and of Mary's marriage portion of £1,000 and to provide jointures for Jane Buxton and Mary Houlden, and for settling the premises in the blood of Henry Buxton, conveyed the manor or reputed manor of Youlgreave, mines of lead, vare, lott and cope, barmoot court, office of barmaster, privileges, liberties, commons, common of pasture etc, with one half of the tithe of wool and lambs of Youlgreave, which half Henry had lately purchased from Katherine Hawley of Youlgreave widow, the messuages, lands etc of Henry in Youlgreave or elsewhere in Derbyshire, to the use of himself and his heirs until the marriage and after the marriage, as to the capital messuage or manor house of Youlgreave, buildings, courts, courtyards etc. belonging, and the Westcroftes, the Nether Shonk Dale, the further and Nearer Holme, with 6 beast gates on a pasture called Malstone Sparrowdale and Mosseyleas, The Alliss, The Corn Milne, Middle Tofthillocks, widow Heywardes Cottage, to the use of John Buxton and after his death to Mary for her life for her jointure and in full satisfaction of dowry, with remainder to John Buxton the son, heirs and assigns, as to the Ashton Orchard, Plumtree Orchard, Neather Tofthillocks, Over Tofthillocks, the Moore Close, piece of ground in field called Harrillow Top, 20 beast gates upon Malstone, the Neather Breeches, cottages or tenements in the occupations of Francis Pickeringe, Thomas Hope, widow Chrichlow, and Grace Carrington, to the use of John Buxton, Henry's son, heirs and assigns, as to the premises of which no use has been limited to the use of Henry Buxton for life, then that Jane shall have an annuity of £50 for her jointure and in satisfaction of dower, the premises being to the use of John, Henry's son, his heirs and assigns, but charged with the annuity. Excepted are 2 leases 1) of parcel of the premises, made by William Turbill, Thomas Perryman, John Whitfield, and Henry Buxton, to Henry Bradbury, for 2 years, at rent £17, dated - 165 - and 2) of a messuage and lands, part of the premises, by John Whitfield and Henry Buxton to Thomas Birdes, for a term unexpired, dated - 165 -
