Title | Brother R, Abbot of Garendon]and P[aul] Abbot of St. Mary of Legre Prato [?Leicester Meadow] and Master A of Wilne, commissioned [agents] of the Pope, in the case between William, parson of Seale, and William son of Ralph of Measham and Lucian, son of Robert Desert [Dysart}. William the parson seeks against them [the other 2] in his wood of Overseal right to take timber for building and gather wood for hedging [husbote and haibote], which belongs to the Church of Seale. After many allegations it was finally amicably settled in this way. W[illiam] and L[ucian] above mentioned concede in perpetuity for themselves and their heirs to the mother Church of Seale, 4 wagon [loads] of wood [timber] for burning, 2 each to be gathered by the parsons of the same church annually in the same wood of Overseal in preparation for the birth of the Lord [25 December]; William the parson of Seale remits and in perpetuity quitclaims all complaints which he had against them in the husbote and haibote [building and hedging rights] in wood, decided on the authority of the Lord Pope |
