Description
This sub-series comprises typed radio play scripts written by Lawrence du Garde Peach and produced primarily for broadcast on the BBC’s Children’s Hour between the 1930s and 1960s. The sub-series is divided into three thematic sub-sub-series:
1. Greek and Arthurian Legends – Adaptations of well-known tales from Arthurian and Greek mythology.
2. The Tales of the Nordic Sagas – Scripts based on Norse mythological traditions.
3. Religious and Moral Dramas – Plays exploring Christian moral themes and early Church history.
Most items are typed scripts, several containing annotations or manuscript amendments indicating revisions for broadcast or performance. Multiple versions of certain plays exist, including lightly revised or annotated duplicates.
