| Administrative History | The property came to the Widdringtons through the marriage of Jane Tempest and William, 4th Lord Widdrington. It was not subject to forfeiture with the Widdrington property under the attainder of 1716 and descended to Thomas Eyre through his mother, Mary Widdrington. She was daughter of the 4th Lord Widdrington and sister and (in her issue) heiress of Henry Francis Widdrington, last of the male line and (but for the attainder) last Lord Widdrington. He died in 1774. |
