Title(Copy): (George Perkins), ex’tor of William Barker at Syrna to William Tomlinson, esq., London: William Tomlinson, esq., London: William Barker died on 25 July, aged 86; he enclosed copy of will, of which Tomlinson is also ex’tor: he requires instructions from Mr. Charlesworth’s trustees, to see if Mr. Barker is authorised to dispose of the legacy in favour of part only of his children: the estate is £20,000 in debt for moneys taken up, for reparation of the premises, and funeral expenses, which must be paid from future rents, and sale of furniture: William’s sons Richard, Henry and Benjamin at Smirna, and Samuel at Constantinople, think it would be in the best interest of the heirs not to sell the house

- 1825 August 17: same to same late Mr. Barker’s son s have given him a note of rents, inventory of furniture, and note of debts: best to defer all sales until affairs of Greeks and Turks are settled, or at least until he hears from Tomlinson or Mr. Charlesworth’s trustees; the chief tenants of the house are Greeks who have come into the quarters for safety since the revolution; many opulent Greeks are absent in Europe, and it is likely that rents and values will go up when they return. - 1825 February 25: Copy of will of William Barker, son of Thomas and Sarah Barker of Bakewell, living at Smirna: soul to God, (etc.): cites will of his late cousin the Reverend Robert Charlesworth of Halifax, Yorkshire, directing that £2,000 be advanced to him for his family, not subject to the demands of his creditors; which sum was used to purchase the Yedick or goodwill of his house in Smirna; directs that said Yedick, including 2 increases after original purchase, he sold as soon as convenient, and the money, after payment of hypothecations and debts, be equally divided between his daughters Sarah and Grace in England, and Mariann and Louise in Smirna, and Robert lawful son of his late son William; hoping that his daughter Mary who is well provided for, and his sons who can provide for themselves, will approve: his claim to lands in East Florida, U.S.A, now pending, to be divided between all his children living and his grandson Robert; also the proceeds of all his furniture, plate, linen, books, jewels etc.; 130 Spanish dollars lent to him by his daughter Marianna on 1 January 1814 to be secured to her by hypothecation on the rents of house and premises, and proceeds of sale hypothecation on the rents of house and premise, and proceeds of sale thereof: George Perkins, senior, of Smirna and William Tomlinson of London, to be ex’ors: revokes previous wills of 20 December 1759 left with his brother-in-law Mr. Thomas Dunnage of London and of 5 April 1791 left with Mr. Thomas Hall, chaplain to the British factory at Leghorn: witnessed, George Boddington, Canc’l; J.C.
