Archive Reference / Library Class No.
D739/A/PI/1/1
Title
Register of baptisms, marriages and burials
Date
1553-1796
Description
Marriages to 1753 only. There is a gap in the register, with no entries between 1591 and 1612. However, the [contemporary] pagination is complete, so the period was presumably not covered when the entries were copied. There are references to a comet and the plague in 1664 - 1665. Also a memorandum re tithes payable 1732 and the repair of the chapel at Shirebrook by its own inhabitants, nd. On the inside back cover are extracts from the register relating to rectors of Pleasley, by Rev R R Rawlins, curate (who had the volume rebound in 1823), updated to 1884.
