Tantum family of Loscoe and Heanor
Administrative History
The Tantum family were related by marriage to the Howitt family of Heanor and Nottingham. Francis Tantum married Elizabeth Redfearn (or Redfern) in the mid 18th century. Their son Francis was murdered in 1795. Their daughter Phebe married Thomas Howitt in 1786. The Tantums were prominent Quakers in Heanor. Thomas Howitt and later his son Francis Tantum Howitt owned property in Heanor and Langley. These records relate primarily to Tantum family genealogy and their connection with the Howitt and Bonner families.
