Archive CreatorEckington School Board
Administrative HistoryBoard schools were established after the Education Act of 1870. Boards were empowered to build new schools in areas of poor educational provision or else to absorb existing schools. In 1903, Board Schools became Council Schools. Eckington School Board ran the Central Schools Infants, Girls and Boys (built 1874), Half-way Houses, Mosborough (built 1877), Marsh Lane (built 1873) and Renishaw (built 1873).
Custodial HistoryThese records of Eckington School Board were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in October 1969.
