Administrative History | The Stockport (Bahamas) Locomotive Society was formed in July 1967. Its aim was to restore the London Midland & Scottish Jubilee Class locomotive, No. 5596 Bahamas. The work was completed in 1968. Also in that year, the Society negotiated the purchase of the Dinting Motive Power Depot from British Rail. This was converted into a locomotive depot and museum, which came to be known as the Dinting Railway Centre. The centre housed the "Bahamas" locomotive and other engines and exhibits. It closed in June 1991 and the exhibits were moved to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. |
