| Administrative History | The college was founded in 1851 as the Derby Diocesan Institution for the Training of Schoolmistresses. Its name changed over time and until 1966 it was known as the Derby Diocesan Training College.
By the 1970s the institution, having been renamed the Bishop Lonsdale College, had become one of twenty seven Church of England Colleges of Education and one of nine constituent colleges of the University of Nottingham School of Education. |
