Title
Commonplace book
Date
[c1872-c1882]
Description
Book containing manuscript poems, quotations from newspapers, cartoons, sketches and illustrations. The volume appears to have been owned by Rebecca Margaret ("Maggie") Warwick (b. 1857), whose signature, dated 7 May 1875, is on the first page, although the contributions come from various of her family and friends, whose signatures appear in the centre pages. These include her father, J A Warwick and a Jack Warwick (possibly the John Warwick mentioned in the apprenticeship indenture, D6768/1/9). The book contains three loose leaves, two of which contain verses by J A Warwick, the third being a letter from J A Warwick to Maggie wishing her a happy twenty-fifth birthday, dated 21 December 1882
