| Administrative History | Robotham and Company is a firm of solicitors' based in St Mary's Gate, Derby. They are listed in their current premises in Kelly's Directory of 1891. Previously Robothams working as solicitors were listed as having premises at 19 St Alkmund's Churchyard (Whites, 1857 and Harrison, Harrod and Co, 1860) and earlier at "College" (Bagshaw's 1846). No mention of Robotham was found in Pigot's Directory of 1835. The chambers at St Mary's Gate were originally constructed as Evans' (later Crompton and Evans) Bank. Robothams seem to have had close ties with the bank and many of the items in this collection relate to business transacted for Crompton and Evans Union Bank. |
