Administrative HistoryThis is one of the ancient parishes in the county. Areas included within the parish are Netherthorpe, Woodthorpe, West Inkersall, Park Gate, Barrow Hill and Middle, Nether and West Handley.

Barrow Hill was created a separate parish in 1886 (see D3277). The chapel of ease at Handley was also originally part of Staveley parish (see D4150). Mission churches or mission rooms also existed at Mastin Moor, Poolsbrook, Inkersall, Woodthorpe and Speedwell. Hollingwood was a chapel of ease in the parish of Barrow Hill (see D4149). Staveley is now part of the Staveley and Barrow Hill Team Ministry.
