Title
Craven Steam Crane
Description
These cranes were later fitted with diesel engines. They were weight tested on the line next to the staff bridge (seen on the left). The staff office in the background had an extra storey built on the top of the original M.R. building. The clock tower was also made higher - but using wood instead of stone like the original. This was a hand wound clock, and had to be done at the top of the tower. The weights travelled down inside the building alongside the main stairs, and were encased in a specially made cupboard. No 1 Roundshed can be seen on the right. The works managers' office was situated on the top floor, next to where the window is open.
