Description | After the Second World War, social events, such as the annual carnival and Wakes Week, were being organised by the Village Hall Committee, with the intention of raising money to buy enough land to build a new village hall. The postwar effort raised about £1000. In the 1970s a new committee raised another £5000 in time to profit from the closure of the Congregational Chapel in 1977. With the help of a local authority grant the old chapel became the village hall five years later. [www.brassington.org] |
