Indenture in which Clay Cross Colliery Company lease lands constituting the site of the Clay Cross Tunnel to the Midland Railway Company. With attached plan showing the tunnel as a long strip of land from where Clay Lane crosses the Press Brook, across Market Street and High Street to Clay Cross Ironworks near Tupton/Woodthorpe parish boundary, giving acreage of coloured area. With April 1922 note by J Parkins explaining why one strip of the land is left uncoloured and undated note by the Midland Railway estate agent on ownership of another area of land, coloured in error. Approx 40cm by 400cm. Scale 1 chain: 1 inch, 16 Jan
