Description
Old alignment of the CHPR at Hurdlow, northwest of the incline from the Earl Sterndale to Sparklow road looking southeast from the lane towards Cronkston Low. This section was abandoned on the 2 January 1869 when the Hurdlow Deviation was opened replacing the 1:16 gradient with a 1:60 gradient that could be loco hauled. The original alignment was subsequently sold to the Duke of Devonshire.
