Title
Cromford Goods
Date
20th Cent
Description
View towards Cromford Goods from the hillside on the opposite side of the valley in Bow Wood, South of Wharf Cottage. (Photograph is a copy of a postcard with inscription "High Peak Junction Lond. N. W. R. Co. Cromford. 106"). Above the CHPR line with the MR (Midland Railway) wagons, is the former CHPR agents house. On the left of the photograph is Oak Farm, built as a replacement for the Junction Inn. Oak Farm was designed as an Inn when it was built for the MR Company. The Junction Inn was demolished when the MR realigned the track some time closer to the Cromford Canal some time after 1881. Sheep Pasture Incline heads up the hillside to the West above the MR signal on the MR St. Pancras-Manchester mainline, and below the bridge on the former turnpike. The photograph is probably from the early 20th Century.
