DescriptionView towards the former engineman's cottage at the top of the incline with Hopton Colour Works beyond. The hut by Hopton Cottage is at the site of the former engine shed, which was erected in 1843 for a tender engine when steam replaced horses on this section. Earlier locomotives did not have the capability to work up and down Hopton Incline at this time.
