Title
Hopton Incline
Date
1967
Description
Fine view of the incline, initially graded at 1:14 for the whole length, but in 1903 the gradient was eased to 200 yards at 1:60, 75 yards at 1:30, 100 yards at 1:20, and the last 200 yards at 1:14. As a result of easing the gradient, the length was increased from 457 yards to 575 yards. On the right is the shortened stub of the siding that originally served the Bone Works. On the right of the branch beyond the siding is possibly the gradient board indicating the gradient change from 1:60 to 1:30.
