Description
The goods shed for transhipment to and from the canal, with the 'Ticket Office' beyond. The loading gauge to protect the low bridge below the A6 is visible in the upper foreground. The view is taken shortly after track lifting. In the centre of the photograph is the route of the 1853 connection from the Cromford & High Peak Railway to the MBM&M (Manchester, Buxton, Matlock & Midland Junction Railway), subsequently the Midland Railway. This was one of the last CHPR sections to close on 3 April 1967.
