C H Burton was Clifford Herbert Burton (1906-1990) of Derby, who is listed in the 1939 register as living at 26 Chester Green Road, Derby with his wife Christina. His occupation was Foreman Letterpress Printer and he also served as Leading Fireman in the Auxiliary Fire Service at Derby. In 1941, the Auxiliary Fire Service became part of the National Fire Service.
