Administrative History	Eckington School was a comprehensive school for boys and girls aged between 11-18. The catchment area was wide, covering areas south of Sheffield in the former North East Derbyshire Coalfield area. It opened in January 1978, becoming designated as a specialist engineering college from September 2002. Eckington School ceased to exist in 2023, replaced by an academy of the same name.
Custodial History	This collection comprises a single accession, deposited in Derbyshire Record Office on 07 July 2004. Ownership passed to Derbyshire County Council when the school ceased to exist.
