Description
How to find a Land Values plan reference:
Reference numbers for this series all begin D595/LV/ followed by the original Ordnance Survey reference for each map. Ordnance Survey references consist of two numbers separated by a full stop or space. To find the reference you need, use the Valuation Office map finder created by the National Archives, by clicking the first link below. You can search for the location using the place name or postcode. After you click on a section of the map, the map finder will display the original Ordnance Survey reference, beginning with the word Derbyshire. Note down this reference (ignoring the National Archives reference beginning IR). Finally, click the second link below to check whether we hold the Land Values map you are looking for.
To find the corresponding schedule (the valuation precis, often known as the Domesday Book), search the catalogue using D595/R* in the RefNo field, and the place name in the Title field.

Custodial History
The working sheet maps are not a complete series. Some items were retained by the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue & Customs), some were passed on to the National Archives to replace record sheet maps that were in poor condition, and in the case of the High Peak District (which included parts of Cheshire and was based in Stockport), some maps may be held at Cheshire Archives (ref NV).
